You were the person who knew where the numbers came from

Campaign reports, UTM sheets, GA dashboards, attribution arguments and Monday decks. You learned that a number nobody trusts is worse than no number.

FromMarketing AnalystToAI-Assisted BI Analyst

Now AI tools summarise dashboards, write SQL drafts and answer questions like 'why did leads drop?' in plain English. Report-making is getting faster. What stays scarce is clean, tested data, dashboards people trust, and someone who can say when the AI answer is wrong.

The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 says slower economic growth is "among the top contributors to job decline in ... Sales and Marketing Professionals" (WEF, Jan 2025). The ILO's 2025 update adds that "transformation of jobs is the most likely impact of GenAI" (ILO, May 2025). Both describe whole categories, not your city or your skills. The rest of this page is our reading of the work itself.

Try it: Real Lift or Noise

Four campaign results. Decide which show a real lift and which are noise.

Real Lift or Noise

Three routes that reuse what you did

Did people come to you with business questions? AI-assisted BI analysts build dashboards and answer questions that AI tools can then read from. Route: AI-Assisted BI Analyst.

Did you spend your time fixing broken data? Analytics engineers build tested SQL models so every dashboard uses the same clean numbers. Route: Analytics Engineer.

Did you rebuild the same report every week? Reporting automation specialists turn manual reports into pipelines that refresh on their own. Route: Reporting Automation Specialist.

Pay, honestly

We haven't verified pay data for these routes. Analyst roles differ a lot between agencies, D2C brands and SaaS firms; ask which data stack you will own.

Every route starts from a station you already know.

Your realistic 90 days

You ran campaign reports, tracking and attribution. AI now writes summaries and SQL drafts, so your value moves to trusted data, clear metrics and explaining what changed.

Assumes 2–3 hours a day alongside job applications, a laptop and a phone, and free plans only. Every step has a smaller version and a way to pause. Use them. It runs in three blocks of 30 days, each ending with a signal that you're on track. A signal is not a promise of a job or income.

Worries people bring when leaving this job

  • AI answers data questions now. Someone still has to check that the answer is right.
  • I only know Excel and GA. Both are a strong base, and SQL is free to learn.
  • No degree in statistics. A working dashboard with clear notes is better proof.
  • Gap in work. A recent public-data sample shows your skills are current.
  • I'm not an engineer. BI and reporting routes need SQL and care, not software engineering.
  • I need income quickly. MIS and reporting roles hire often, and freelance report fixes can start fast.

Where the openings are, and what to type

Also worth a weekly look: Instahyre, Cutshort, Wellfound, and iimjobs or hirist for senior roles. Upwork and Contra if you want freelance work.

D2C brands, agencies, SaaS firms and analytics consultancies. LinkedIn and Naukri both carry analyst roles.

  • LinkedIn search string: ("BI analyst" OR "analytics engineer" OR "MIS analyst" OR "data analyst") AND marketing
  • Naukri / foundit keywords: BI analyst, analytics engineer, MIS analyst, data analyst

Job-hunt moves that matter for this route

  • Search 'BI analyst', 'analytics engineer', 'MIS analyst' and 'data analyst' on LinkedIn and Naukri, then filter to the last week.
  • Share a dashboard built on public or fake data, never a client's real numbers.
  • Write one short case on a metric you fixed, with the before and after.

Job scams aimed at marketers

Watch for 'marketing internships' that charge a registration or certificate fee, 'work from home' review or like-and-earn tasks, and anyone asking for an OTP, UPI PIN or a deposit before you start. Real employers never charge you to hire you. Use official domains only. Report in India at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930; in the US, ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

What people in this role ask

Will AI replace marketing analysts? Report writing is shrinking. Checking data, defining metrics and explaining results to people still need analysts.

I only know Excel and GA. Excel and GA are a real base; SQL is the next step and free to learn.

Do I need a statistics degree? No. A clean sample dashboard and one written analysis show more than a degree.
