What carries over
| What you did in on-ground marketing | Where it shows up now |
|---|---|
| Ran activations in stores | Run dealer visits and demos |
| Worked with retailers | Grow dealer orders |
| Managed field teams | Plan a beat (a set weekly route of outlets) and coverage |
| Reported footfall and leads | Report orders and new dealers |
What is new
- Monthly sales targets.
- Dealer credit and payment follow-up.
- CRM or sales app updates every day.
Try it: Beat plan
Four cards come up. Keep visits that grow orders. Each card's back says why.
Beat plan
Your first proof in 30 days
Draw a one-week beat plan for a territory you know: 30 outlets, visit order, targets per outlet and a simple daily report.
Worries, answered
Sales targets scare me. They are numbers you plan for. Your activation results already show you can move people to act.
I have no dealer contacts. You know the retailers from activations. Many of them are dealers or know who is.
Your realistic 90 days
You worked in on-ground marketing. This plan moves you toward a territory sales and dealer development role in 90 days, using what you already do.
Assumes 2–3 hours a day alongside job applications, a laptop and a phone, and free plans only. Every step has a smaller version and a way to pause. Use them. It runs in three blocks of 30 days, each ending with a signal that you're on track. A signal is not a promise of a job or income.
Your first 7 days
| Day | Task | Done when |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pick a territory you know | Chosen |
| 2 | List 30 outlets | 30 listed |
| 3 | Group them by area | Groups made |
| 4 | Set a visit order | Order set |
| 5 | Set targets per outlet | Targets set |
| 6 | Make a daily report sheet | Sheet made |
| 7 | Save 10 territory sales postings | 10 links |
Days 1–30: Your proof
| Step | Time | Done when | Smaller version | If you need to pause |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Make a 10-shop market report on your phone | about 5 hours over 2 weeks | report done | 5 shops. | Stop at the end of the step you're on and write two lines about where you stopped. Pick it up from those notes later. |
| Show it to 5 sales managers or area sales managers (ASMs) | about 1 hour | 5 messages | Just 2 this week. | Stop sending for now. Keep a list of who you've contacted so you can follow up later without doubling up. |
Signal by day 30: Someone in the field replies to your proof.
Days 31–60: Applications
| Step | Time | Done when | Smaller version | If you need to pause |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Add 10 more shops and a 5-line plan to grow sales | about 5 hours | plan done | 5 more shops. | Stop at the end of the step you're on and write two lines about where you stopped. Pick it up from those notes later. |
| Apply to 10 'territory sales officer', 'ASM' or 'dealer development' jobs | about 4 hours | 10 logged | Just 5 this week. | Stop sending for now. Keep a list of who you've contacted so you can follow up later without doubling up. |
Signal by day 60: A screening call.
Days 61–90: Interviews for territory sales and dealer development roles
| Step | Time | Done when | Smaller version | If you need to pause |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Practise a 2-minute pitch to a shop owner in your language | about 1 hour | 3 runs | 1 run. | Optional. Skip it if the week is full; nothing later depends on it. |
| Ask 3 old supervisors or distributors for referrals | about 1 hour | 3 asks | Just 1 this week. | Stop sending for now. Keep a list of who you've contacted so you can follow up later without doubling up. |
Signal by day 90: A second round or a paid trial.

Fake-job traps
Watch for postings that charge a registration or certificate fee, 'work from home' review or like-and-earn tasks, and anyone asking for one-time codes, bank or payment app PINs or a deposit before you start. Real employers never charge you to hire you. Use official domains only. Report it to your national cybercrime or consumer fraud agency and to the job site where you saw the ad.
