| What you did as an event manager | Where it shows up now |
|---|---|
| Managed client briefs and budgets | Manage client accounts and renewals |

| Sent post-event reports | Share usage and results reports |
What is new
- Event platform setup and features.
- Account plans and renewals.
- CRM notes for every client call.
Try it: Client ticket
Four cards come up. Sort each ask: solve now, or plan with the client. Each card's back says why.
Client ticket
Your first proof in 30 days
Set up a free event on an event platform trial: registration form, agenda and reminder emails. Write a one-page account plan for that imaginary client.
Worries, answered
Is account management just sales? Partly. You keep clients happy and help them renew, which is mostly service and planning, the work you already do.
I have not used event platforms. Most have free trials. One evening of setup gives you enough to talk about.
Your realistic 90 days
You worked as an event manager. This plan moves you toward an event-tech account manager role in 90 days, using what you already do.
Assumes 2–3 hours a day alongside job applications, a laptop and a phone, and free plans only. Every step has a smaller version and a way to pause. Use them. It runs in three blocks of 30 days, each ending with a signal that you're on track. A signal is not a promise of a job or income.
Your first 7 days
| Day | Task | Done when |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sign up for one event platform trial | Account made |
| 2 | Create an event with an agenda | Event created |
| 3 | Build a registration form | Form live |
| 4 | Write 2 reminder emails | Emails set |
| 5 | List 5 problems clients hit on the day | List made |
| 6 | Draft a one-page account plan | Plan drafted |
| 7 | Save 10 account manager postings | 10 links |
Days 1–30: Your proof
| Step | Time | Done when | Smaller version | If you need to pause |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turn one past event into a handover pack: run sheet, risk list, setup, report | about 6 hours over 3 weeks | pack published | Run sheet and risk list. | Stop at the end of the step you're on and write two lines about where you stopped. Pick it up from those notes later. |
| Show the pack to 5 people at MICE firms, agencies or event-tech platforms | about 1 hour | 5 messages | Just 2 this week. | Stop sending for now. Keep a list of who you've contacted so you can follow up later without doubling up. |
Signal by day 30: Someone in the field replies to your proof.
Days 31–60: Applications
| Step | Time | Done when | Smaller version | If you need to pause |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Set up one sample event on a free event platform trial and screenshot each step | about 6 hours | setup walkthrough | Registration page only. | Stop at the end of the step you're on and write two lines about where you stopped. Pick it up from those notes later. |
| Apply to 10 'event account manager', 'MICE executive' or 'client success' roles | about 5 hours | 10 logged | Just 5 this week. | Stop sending for now. Keep a list of who you've contacted so you can follow up later without doubling up. |
Signal by day 60: A screening call.
Days 61–90: Interviews for event-tech and MICE account manager roles
| Step | Time | Done when | Smaller version | If you need to pause |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Practise a 2-minute story about an event problem you fixed on the day | about 2 hours | 3 runs | 1 run. | Optional. Skip it if the week is full; nothing later depends on it. |
| Ask 3 former vendors or clients for referrals | about 2 hours | 3 asks | Just 1 this week. | Stop sending for now. Keep a list of who you've contacted so you can follow up later without doubling up. |
Signal by day 90: A second round or a paid trial.

Fake-job traps
Watch for postings that charge a registration or certificate fee, 'work from home' review or like-and-earn tasks, and anyone asking for one-time codes, bank or payment app PINs or a deposit before you start. Real employers never charge you to hire you. Use official domains only. Report it to your national cybercrime or consumer fraud agency and to the job site where you saw the ad.
